Peyton Manning Most Valuable Free Agent in 2012

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

Peyton Manning was the most popular and well-known NFL quarterback before the 2011 season but his heavily reported neck surgery and subsequent long-term recovery have spawned doubters of one of the most prolific passers in the NFL.

Manning’s accomplishments with the Indianapolis Colts number in the hundreds, among them a quarterback rating of 121.1 in 2004 along with 49 touchdown passes, a record at the time. Manning currently sits with 399 career touchdowns and once everyone understands that his neck injury is not career-ending injury he will be the hottest sports free agent since LeBron James.

Manning began his career in 1998 and never missed a start until the 2011 season. Manning learned under fire from beginning and it molded him into a quarterback who could successfully avoid contact and get the ball out of his hand quick.

Manning later learned to use his quick thinking and courage under fire to develop a complicated offensive scheme for the Indianapolis Colts. The system is so detailed, when Manning missed this season the team went into a tail spin, going 2-14 this season and finishing with the worst record in the NFL.

Manning, when healthy, is the best quarterback in the NFL. He studies the game tirelessly and knows more about his opponents defensive schemes than the defenders. The timing for Manning to play for another team at the end of his career may be perfect. He is losing many of his favorite targets in Indianapolis and a fresh start may be just what the doctor ordered.

New York Jets NFL Playoff, Super Bowl history

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

The New York Jets have recently qualified for the playoffs for the 14th time in the history of their franchise. While the franchise has been in existence since the year 1960, the majority of the team’s playoff appearances have been in the last two decades.

The Jets play the Indianapolis Colts Saturday and are favorites in NFL Betting.

The Jets have qualified for the playoffs 6 times since the beginning of the 21st century and have become one of the best teams in the NFL on the a regular basis. While they have really turned things around as of late, they have not been able to have the type of success in the playoffs that they’d hope for.

It has been more than 40 years since the Jets last made their way to the Super Bowl. That Super Bowl appearance actually came in the times of the AFL. The Jets managed to win the AFL and thus qualified for the Super Bowl against the winners of the NFL Championship.

The Jets were led to Super Bowl III by the famous Joe Namath. The team managed to win the Super Bowl behind Namath in what is one of the classic football games of all time.

After that time the fans of the Jets had little to cheer for. They did not make the playoffs at all in the 1970s, but did manage to turn things around in the 1980’s. The Jets qualified for the playoffs 4 times in the 1980s and left a foundation for the team to build up to what it is today.

Tennessee Titans Vs. Indianapolis Colts – NFL Action

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

This Thursday on NFL Thursday Night Football in Tennessee (8:20 pm ET, NFL Network), the Tennessee Titans will battle against the Indianapolis Colts.

Both teams are confident enough to win this game. Without their starting quarterback the Titans are 5-7 on the season. In their division, the Colts are 6-6 on the season and have fallen out of first position. The Jaguars would run away with the division if they face a loss in this game.

The total for the game is at 46, while in NFL Odds the Colts are the 2.5 point favorites.

Recently, the Colts have been on an awful streak and it seems that teams are figuring out a way to neutralize Peyton Manning as they have lost three games in a row.

Over the last three games Manning has thrown 11 interceptions. To take out Manning, you can depend on the Titans to utilize the same game plan that has been used by these last three teams.

The Titans look like a team that may be beyond the hunt as they are without Vince Young. The fact which will hurt their passing game is Kerry Collins, a subpar quarterback. Their rivals will be able to key in on Chris Johnson, by their passing game being out of commission. The Titans were never competent to get their running game involved the way they would have liked to, as this happened last week.

In this game, the Colts will surely be in peak form. You may start hearing people questioning whether or not Manning has the talent left in his game to keep his team in contention if they lose.

NFL Season Preview: Indianapolis Colts

Friday, August 6th, 2010

The Indianapolis Colts were once again one of the best teams in the NFL in 2009 and look to bring similar success to the table in 2010. The Colts have been near the top of the league for years and it is no mystery why.

Peyton Manning is proving to be one of the greatest players to ever play in the NFL. Manning is a good enough player to carry the team through the ups and downs of the season.

Manning has not had a quarterback rating under 95 since 2002 and he has only had one year in his career under 84. That year was his rookie season. He has thrown for more than 4000 years in all but two seasons of his career and has never thrown for less than 26 touchdowns in a season. It is pretty clear what the Colts are going to get from Manning in 2010.

The Colts have always been great on offense. The question each year is whether or not their defense will be tough enough to go deep in the playoffs. One question that will come up is whether or not Dwight Freeney will be able to come back at full strength.

Many remember the issues that Freeney’s ankle had in the playoffs last year. Freeney is one of the best defensive players in the game when he is healthy and makes all of the difference for the Colts on defense. His health will be a key factor for the Colt’s success in 2010.
