NFC East Showdown: Redskins Target Cowboys Romo

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

Tony Romo, quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, has been called soft as well as a choker. He gained some fans last week when he led the Cowboys to victory as he dealt with a punctured lung. Now the Washington Redskins are looking to get in Romo’s head as the teams prepare to meet for their Monday Night Football clash.

Redskins defensive back, DeAngelo Hall, has already told the media he target Romo and focus on his mid-section when tackling the quarterback. “I want to get a chance to put my helmet on whatever’s hurt,” Hall said. “If it’s Romo’s ribs? I’m going to be asking for some corner blitzes.”

If Hall does knock Romo out of the game it will be the first time the light corner ever knocked a player out of a game. ESPN’s Mark Schlereth, took exception to someone like Hall stepping up and speaking about knocking Romo out of the game.

“That’s the first time you’re ever going to hit anybody,” he ranted sarcastically. “Good for you. That’s great. That’s awesome.

The Cowboys come into this game with a high-powered offense and a defense that is still trying to find themselves. Another key to this game is that the Cowboys have never won a home in Cowboys Stadium. A fact that has not escaped Jerry Jones, the Cowboys outspoken owner.

The Redskins have looked improved over last year but they are definitely a work in progress. Mike Shanahan is turning the team into a bump and grind offense and an aggressive defense but the team is still a work in progress.

Seems to me that there might be some pretty good NFL betting props for this match up.

Weekend Clash Between The Arizona Cardinals Vs. Dallas Cowboys

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

This weekend the Arizona Cardinals will battle against the Dallas Cowboys. Even as the Cowboys appear to have started to turn things around as of late, the Cardinals are coming off of a loss. Last week, the Cowboys hung on to beat the Redskins. While the Cardinals are sitting at 4-10, the Cowboys are now 5-9 on the season.

In NFL Lines, the Cowboys will be 6-point favorites.

The Cardinals will require figuring out a way to get something going against the Cowboys as they have a truly pale offense. Most teams do find a way to score points against the Cowboys, which is the good news. This season they have allowed more than 28 points for each game.

In opposition to this Arizona Cardinals team the Cowboys will likely put up a lot of points on the board as they have a solid offense. Against the run or against the pass, they aren’t particularly strong. In their last 9 games this poor defense has added to the 8 losses that they have suffered.

Without a quarterback to hold their team, the Cardinals have continued to slide further and further. In order to turn things around and finish off the season strong, the quarterbacks on their team will have a great opportunity. They will have an outside chance of keeping their job with a sturdy finish.

You can expect the Cowboys to run away with this one without any problems if the Cardinals don’t get superb play from their quarterbacks.

Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys meet in NFC East clash

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

The Washington Redskins will take on the Dallas Cowboys this weekend in Dallas.

These teams are both out of contention, but they are rivals and will put up a good game nonetheless. The Cowboys were edged by the Eagles this past week 30-27, while the Redskins were defeated by the Buccaneers 17-16.

The Cowboys will be the 6 point favorites in NFL odds. The total for the game sits at 45.

The Cowboys have been a much improved team since getting Phillips out of the picture. Their last three games have been against three of the best teams in the NFL, yet they have been hanging tough in each game. They are 3-2 in their last 5 games and their only 2 losses have come against the Eagles and Saints.

The Redskins have lost three in a row, but they almost pulled out a victory against the Bucs. This team will need to get their passing game going against the Cowboys as Dallas has the 27th best pass defense in the NFL.

They also had some help on the ground last game through the efforts Ryan Torain. If he can top 100 yards again in this game the ‘Skins will have a good chance at taking home a victory in this game.

The Cowboys will be playing at home, but they have struggled at home all season. They have won just 1 of 7 games that have been played in Dallas. A win here could go a long ways towards helping the Cowboys restore their winning tradition while playing in Dallas.

Dallas Cowboys – NFL – Offseason Moves

Friday, May 7th, 2010

The Dallas Cowboys had a very busy offseason. Dallas Cowboys decided to make a few changes to their roster after a loss to the Minnesota Vikings in last season’s Conference Finals.

They picked up wide receiver Dez Bryant from Oklahoma State, in this year’s draft, 24th overall and with their 27th pick linebacker Sean Lee from Penn State. After the simultaneous releases of free safety Ken Hamlin and long time left tackle Flozell Adams, you would think that picking up a player to fill either one of those positions would be a top priority… it wasn’t. Instead they draft a wide receiver to possibly replace Patrick Crayton.

Crayton wants to remain with the Cowboys, but if they don’t feel they need him, then he would like to be traded, according to Crayton’s agent. It was felt by the Cowboys that they had to beat the receiver hungry Baltimore Ravens to the punch.

To fill the newly vacant tackle and safety positions, the Cowboys lost an opportunity to draft any one of the players, hoping that those players would drop down in the draft. The players who like tackles ultimately found homes elsewhere, Russell Okung and Trent Williams or strong safeties Eric Berry and Earl Thomas.

Wade Phillips’ contract was extended through 2011, not sure of his future with the Cowboys. Since taking over in 2007, Phillips’ record is 33-12, with a 1-2 playoff record. He has also led the Cowboys to their second NFC title in three years with their first playoff win since 1996.
