Cleveland Browns: NFL Season Preview

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

To find something to bring success to Cleveland, the Cleveland Browns are trying desperately. Last year, they were only able to win 4 games and changes need to be made. Unfortunately, Jake Delhomme’s addition may have been more desperate than productive.

For the Panthers, NFL betting star, Delhomme was once a solid quarterback. He was good enough to win games if the right pieces were around him, although he was never seen as a guy that would carry the squad through the season. in the recent past in Carolina, he was not able to continue in the pattern. In hopes that he would bring some veteran leadership to Cleveland, the Browns signed him, but his signing might have been a bit of a stretch.

Jerome Harrison will lead the Running game out of Washington State. For several years now, Harrison has been in the league, but previous to last season he had only compiled a little more than 400 rushing yards in his career. Last year, he did manage to rush for almost 900 yards, but he is far from a franchise back at this point.

This year, the Browns will probably be looking to use as a rebuilding year rather than a season to make a run at the playoffs. To compete in a division with so many strong teams, they simply do not have the necessary talent.

In the first several picks of the NFL Draft for the Cleveland Browns, the 2010 season will probably result in another draft pick.

Mini Camps – Cleveland Browns – NFL

Friday, June 11th, 2010

The Cleveland Browns, with mini camp, have started their offseason program. By the Browns, the biggest newcomer is not one of the key offseason acquisitions, but rather a converted wrestler.

At Iowa State, the Browns invited David Zabriskie, a former NCAA champ. Another former wrestler, Mark Ellis, was also invited to attend. The Browns appear to be trying to tap into a talent source that is mostly untouched.

They can convert their wrestling strengths to football and they see these guys as being physical and tough. The Patriots have done similar things in the past. They had Stephen Neal convert to become an offensive lineman. For nearly 10 years, he has played in the league.

Another big story of the browns mini camp is Jake Delhomme, even though those guys have most of the headlines. In Carolina, Delhomme struggled last year and joined the Browns in search of a starting job. He and Seneca Wallace are battling this offseason for the starting quarterback job.

For the Browns, Joe Haden has looked good so far as their first round draft pick. He has displayed looks and great speed to be a solid contender for a starting job.

To this point, Colt McCoy has looked good. On short range passes, he has displayed good accuracy and has shown no signs of the shoulder injury that he suffered last year at Texas. Despite his good showing at mini camp, he is not expected to compete for the starting quarterback job in the upcoming season.
