No. 19 Houston vs. No. 22 Penn State in the Ticketcity Bowl

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

No. 22 Penn State Nittany Lions and quarterback Matthew McGloin will take on No. 19-ranked Houston Cougars and Case Keenum in the Ticketcity Bowl in Dallas, Texas January 2, 2012 12:00 EST. Penn State is riding an emotional roller coaster since the Sandusky sex case and this is essentially a home game for Keenum and the Cougars, will it give them the edge.

Starting out as 7 point favorites the number has already been bet down to 5.5 points for the Houston Cougars. 52% of the money coming in on the Cougars has the money is evening out with the initial line adjustment.

The Over/Under moving up from the initial post of 56.5 that was 57.5 points. The early money is going down on the over at 58% and the moneyline is getting hammered on this game. Penn State is receiving about 71% of the money on Moneyline. After seeing a major swing of money come down them Penn State is +193. As the seven point favourite the value may come with the Houston Cougars at -215.

In their last 14 games Penn State is 3-10-1 against the point spread and the numbers are telling especially for a road game to Texas. The Nittany Lions’ failure to cover the over in 11 games is yet another telling trend for this team. 8 of 11 games this season the number has gone under for Penn State.

Riding a four-game winning streak heading into this game the Cougars have also done well versus the point spread going 10-3 against the number. To my mind this bet is a no brainer!

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

The Texas Christian University Horned Frogs better known as TCU are a football team that plays in the Mountain West Conference. Over the history of playing college football, the Horned Frogs have had more success than most would suspect.

Over the years, the Horned Frogs have won two national titles. With the 15 conference titles that they have won, this goes along. They have had 15 Consensus All-Americans and a Heisman Trophy Winner.

The greatest decade of success that the University has ever seen is represented by the 1930s.

On its way to win the national title, head coach Dutch Meyer led the Horned Frogs.

Unfortunately, as the season closed out, things took a turn for the worse. In the final game of the season, the Horned Frogs took on Stanford. In the Rose Bowl, Stanford went on to beat SMU. Over LSU, the Horned Frogs managed to win their Sugar Bowl game and claimed their first National Championship.

The Horned Frogs made a run for another National Championship and turned things up again in 1938.

This season they managed to come out without any losses unlike the season in 1935, although the team was still led by Dutch Meyer. With another victory in the Sugar Bowl, the team finished the season. According to the Associated Press poll, the team finished the season as the top team.

For many years, the team managed to win the Southwest Conference championship 9 times. For a time, the team moved on to the WAC and Conference USA and managed to win the conference championship in each of those conferences as well.

LaDanian Tomlinson was the most famous player to come out of TCU in recent years.

The speed and game plan shocked the world as they managed to post a 12-1 record last season, last year with a high-powered offense. In 2010, the Horned Frogs look to start things off strong again and have hopes of reeling in an undefeated season.

In the nation, the University of Miami Football team is recognized as one of the top programs.

Hurricanes have managed to win 64 percent of their games, over the history of the University. Over the years, the record for the school has been 552-307-19.

Incredible athleticism of the Hurricanes is specifically recognized. It always has made them an exciting team to watch, although this has not always contributed to high totals of wins.

With the Florida State Seminoles, the Hurricanes are spirited rivals. Over the years, these two teams have had countless battles that have come down to the wire. We mean that they have been decided on a final field goal attempt repeatedly, when we say that these battles have come down to the wire.

In 1983, came the first championship. Howard Schnellenberger led the Hurricanes. To the Orange Bowl, the team was led by Bernie Kosar all the way, where they would face off against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. To a 17-0 lead, the team managed to jump ahead and recorded their first ever National Championship.

2010 NCAA College Football Preview: Virginia Tech Hokies

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

After 63 wins, 3 ACC titles, and 2 bowl wins in the last six years, fans of the Virginia Tech Hokies football team are ready to see them move up to the next level. Namely, they want to see them compete for the National Championship. Football matchup reviews expects Hokies to perform their best this season.

Since Virginia Tech joined the ACC in 2004, they have become the conference’s best team and have outplayed historical powerhouses Miami (FL) and Florida State. They are one of the favorites to win the ACC yet again, but in order to do so they need to fill in the various holes left in the unit following the departure of seven starters. Defense has been a strong suit for Tech, with last season’s defensive squad gave up an average of just 15 points per game.

Tech’s offense will be led by senior quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Taylor led the ACC in pass efficiency last season with a 149.39 ranking and is the ACC’s active leader in total offense.

The Hokies’ running game should be as good as it has ever been, with running backs coach calling this year’s running back group as the best he’s ever coached in his 32 years as a coach at Virginia Tech. Sophomore Ryan Williams will be one to watch after putting up monster numbers (ACC leading totals of 1,655 yards and 22 touchdowns, and a 5.6-yards-per-carry average) in his freshmen season.

Virginia Tech opens up its season with a matchup against Boise State on Labor Day. They will be trying to hand the Broncos their first loss since December 23, 2008, and their first regular season loss since November 23, 2007. Other key matchups include a home game with Georgia Tech (Nov. 4) and a road game with Miami (November 20).

Georgia Bulldogs Preview – NCAA College Football – 2010

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

In the 2010 SEC East, Mark Richt and his Georgia Bulldogs have a unique opportunity. Tennessee is in the midst of attempting to rebuild what Lane Kiffin has torn apart and Florida is on the verge of having a down year. Meanwhile, year after year, South Carolina and Steve Spurrier just cannot find any offense.

After a disappointing 8-5 season, Mark Richt is wasting no time. He has brought in a new coach and he has dismantled the Georgia defense. Todd Grantham is looking to make sweeping changes to the Georgia defense and he comes to Georgia via the Dallas Cowboys.

From a traditional 4-3 defense, Grantham plans to convert the defense to a 3-4. There will be more freedom for the linebackers to attack on blitz packages, although this will give Georgia only three down lineman. In the NFL, the 3-4 is becoming an established defense and to confuse the inexperienced quarterbacks Georgia, Grantham is going to use it in 2010.

On the arm of freshman and college football betting odds star, Aaron Murray, the Georgia Bulldogs hopes will ride, on the offense. By pounding the ball behind an excellent offensive line, Richt plans on limiting Murray’s exposure and on to his two elite running backs, Caleb King and Washaun Ealy will be given a heavy load of carries.

From one of the best receivers in the country, A.J. Green, Murray will also receive help. With exceptional speed, Green is an excellent route runner. Green will be able to take and convert short yardage passes for long touchdowns. Green will be the target when he is allowed to throw, although Murray will be limited in his passing.
