NFL Season Preview: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a team of obvious struggles. In 2009 they only managed to win 3 games. The Bucs were outscored by more than 150 points over the course of the season. The Buccaneers may not be ready to make the playoffs this season with all of their issues, but they can go a ways towards improving their team.
One question surrounding the Buccaneers is that of Cadillac Williams. Cadillac Williams came into the NFL on a tear. He looked like the type of running back that would be able to carry the load for a team throughout the whole season. That season he began to wear down a bit and he has never been the same sort of workhorse ever since. It is hard to tell whether or not he will ever return to the level of one of the top running backs in the game.
Another question for the Buccaneers will be whether they can put a quarterback on the field that will produce. The team has struggled for years to find a franchise level quarterback. They have been unable to find someone to take the helm and they are dealing with Josh Freeman.
Freeman may develop in time, but last year he did put up the type of numbers that the Bucs need him too. He turned the ball over 20 times last season and will need to improve on that if the Bucs look to win games.
The Bucs are still a few years away from competing for the playoffs, but 2010 could be a year of progress.
