Georgia Bulldogs Preview – NCAA College Football – 2010

In the 2010 SEC East, Mark Richt and his Georgia Bulldogs have a unique opportunity. Tennessee is in the midst of attempting to rebuild what Lane Kiffin has torn apart and Florida is on the verge of having a down year. Meanwhile, year after year, South Carolina and Steve Spurrier just cannot find any offense.

After a disappointing 8-5 season, Mark Richt is wasting no time. He has brought in a new coach and he has dismantled the Georgia defense. Todd Grantham is looking to make sweeping changes to the Georgia defense and he comes to Georgia via the Dallas Cowboys.

From a traditional 4-3 defense, Grantham plans to convert the defense to a 3-4. There will be more freedom for the linebackers to attack on blitz packages, although this will give Georgia only three down lineman. In the NFL, the 3-4 is becoming an established defense and to confuse the inexperienced quarterbacks Georgia, Grantham is going to use it in 2010.

On the arm of freshman and college football betting odds star, Aaron Murray, the Georgia Bulldogs hopes will ride, on the offense. By pounding the ball behind an excellent offensive line, Richt plans on limiting Murray’s exposure and on to his two elite running backs, Caleb King and Washaun Ealy will be given a heavy load of carries.

From one of the best receivers in the country, A.J. Green, Murray will also receive help. With exceptional speed, Green is an excellent route runner. Green will be able to take and convert short yardage passes for long touchdowns. Green will be the target when he is allowed to throw, although Murray will be limited in his passing.
